Thank You Popular Mechanics SA

The Popular Mechanics SA magazine (www.popularmechanics.co.za) featured an article on Robohand in their February 2013 issue called “Designer Digits. Prosthetic fingers needn’t cost an arm and a leg”.

Thank you to Sean Woods who spent an entire day with Richard and Ivan in November of 2012 to document the journey of Robohand. Whenever I re-read this article it humbles me to the original intent of what Robohand is about and how it all started. We get so caught up in what we are doing sometimes we forget the original objective.

Sean documented this journey so well and I am so pleased that Popular Mechanics was first in line to spread the word. At the time of print MakerBot (www.makerbot.com) had just donated two of their Replicator 2 printers to our project and now MakerBot are here in SA spending a full 4 days with us.

MakerBot will continue the journey Popular Mechanics started and document some of what their Replicator 2′s have been up to over the last three months. As stated in one of our previous blogs, Busy Easter Period, busy-easter-period, there is a lot happening over this weekend and we look forward to seeing what MakerBot put together.

In this month’s Popular Mechanics SA (April issue), there is a letter posted by one of its readers. Hearing back from the public is always such a validation, so to see this in print is fantastic. Thank you Steve Neufeld for your appreciation it makes us teary too!
